Maryborough District Family History Society Inc. is Maryborough's original and best genealogical organisation.  Founded in 1982 to further the study of family history in this very historic part of Queensland Australia, the Society now provides vital research resources for the genealogist and anyone interested in genealogy, their family tree, ancestry, and heritage.

With over 22,000 immigrants arriving in the port of Maryborough between 1860 and 1899, the settlement enjoyed a start that no other small city has had.  Many descendants of those first settlers are now researching their roots with the Society.

Children looking up relatives and relations, finding out about their forebears, or tracing their surname, lineage and bloodlines are amongst those using the research resources to further their interests in their ancestors and pedigrees.

The Society is based UPSTAIRS in the Maryborough Heritage Centre, on the corner of Wharf and Richmond Streets.  Being one of the biggest family history societies outside the capital cities, the Maryborough District Family History Society Inc. serves not only Maryborough and Hervey Bay in the Wide Bay region of Queensland, but can assist people from all over Australia.

A good summary of the history of the Maryborough district is given on the
history page of the Port of Maryborough website.
