This year, in the Auditorium of the Botanic Gardens at Mt. Coot-tha in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, our Annual Show was opened by our Patron, Colin Campbell Dip. Hort., Cert. Journ., FAIH, MHMA (Q), J.P. (Cert. Dec.).

As usual, several new Hibiscus blooms were named after people, organizations and events and presented to recipients.

The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland had a static display showing their work over the years.

Guests: President Gynith Whatmough and M.C. member-at-large from Derby England, Brian Bowker.
Special Guest Cr Margaret de Witt, Councillor for Pullenvale on the Brisbane City Council, Colin and Bev Campbell, Gary Fites from the RACQ and his wife, ................................, Michael Thorley, horticuluralist with the Brisbane City Council and his wife. ................................

The RACQ Centenary is celebrated with the the presentation of the bloom, "RACQ Centenary" to Gary Fites.  This was one of the many new varieties bred by Fred Westerman
Colin presents Brisbane Lass to Michael Thorley and Michael meets Fred and Elaine Westerman who bred the bloom. Fred waves his magic wand and a box of plants appears for Michel to plant in the park garden.

 

Cr Margaret de Witt spoke to the gathering and was presented with the bloom "Beguiled" Here, Colin and Gynith surprise Bev Campbell with a bloom named "Bev Campbell" for being a great Patron
